Prohibited Items

In addition to the list below, prohibited items include anything facility management deems as unsafe, hazardous, or disruptive.

  • Aerosol cans
  • Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or other drug paraphernalia
  • Animals (Service Animals welcome)
  • Helium balloons or other inflatables
  • Sticks or clubs (including signs or banners attached to sticks)
  • Weapons, replicas of weapons, chains, spikes, knives, and explosives

Alcohol Policy

Ryerson University, Mattamy Athletic Centre and Ryerson Eats are dedicated to promoting responsible alcohol beverage sales and consumption in the venue. 

RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING ALCOHOL MANAGEMENT: 

  • Any person purchasing, possessing, or consuming alcohol must be 19 years of age or older and be able to produce valid photo ID proving their age. Our policy is to ID anyone appearing under the age of 30.
  • Any guest who produces false identification or who passes alcohol to a minor may be subject to charges and removal from the premises.
  • Guests may not bring outside alcohol into the Mattamy Athletic Centre, and they cannot leave the venue with any alcohol.
  • Any person found inside the venue with alcohol not purchased inside the Mattamy Athletic Centre is subject to immediate removal from the premises.
  • A person may not enter the building in an intoxicated state.
  • Any guest found intoxicated within the venue or causing disturbance as determined by security, management or event staff, will be asked to leave the venue without a refund.
  • Guests may not possess or purchase more than two (2) alcoholic beverages at a time.

ALCOHOL SERVICE CUT-OFF TIMES:

  • Basketball: start of 4th quarter of play
  • Volleyball: start of 4th quarter of play
  • Hockey: start of 3rd period of play
  • Concert/non-sporting events: 1 hour prior to scheduled end time, or at the discretion of Management                      

Use of Images & Likeness

By participating in and/or attending events/activities at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, Ryerson University will assume you have provided consent for your image/voice to be collected, used and reproduced by Ryerson University, its employees, or agents. All audio recordings, video recording, digital recordings, negatives and/or slides together with any prints shall constitute the property of Ryerson University solely and completely.

In accordance with Section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (1990), personal information including images and recordings in connection with events are collected under the authority of the Ryerson University Act (1977) and will be used for promoting publicizing or explaining Ryerson University and its activities and for administrative, educational or research purposes. Personal information may be disclosed to outside service providers for processing and production.

Community Skate

  • All skaters six (6) years and under must wear CSA approved hockey helmets. We also recommend that all beginner skaters over the age of six (6) wear CSA approved hockey helmets for their protection.

  • No skaters permitted to use cell phones or portable music devices while on the ice.
  • Food or beverages not allowed on the ice surface.
  • For the privacy and protection of our patrons, photography and videotaping is restricted. For special arrangements, please contact staff.
  • Skate in the direction or flow of the other patrons.
  • Do not speed skate or skate backwards.
  • Do not carry children while on the ice.
  • Do not stop for extended periods of time along the boards.
  • Do not play tagged times along the boards.
  • Figure skating jumps are not permitted.
  • Skating walkers may or may not be permitted depending on the leisure skate program.
  • No sticks, balls, pucks, chairs or strollers allowed on the ice surface. Exceptions made for sledges that are to assist those with physical disabilities. The person pushing the sledge is required to wear skates.

Staff are present for the well-being of all patrons. Please ask staff for assistance if needed.

There may be an area reserved for beginner skaters only. Please be careful when skating by this area.

Ice Rentals

GENERAL

  • Shoes are prohibited on the ice without an CSA-approved helmet.
  • No alcohol permitted in the dressing rooms at any time.
  • When wearing skates off the ice, skate guards are recommended for safety.
  • To enter or leave the ice surface, patrons must use the gate in between the team benches.
  • Alcohol, abusive language and aggressive behavior not permitted in the facility. Failure to abide by this rule may result in a suspension from the program and/or facility.
  • The Mattamy Athletic Centre is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please do not bring valuables into the facility.
  • CSA approved helmets are reccomended for all.
  • Neck guards and face masks are strongly recommended.
  • Children 6 years and younger are required to wear a CSA approved helmet.

RENTALS

Each 1 hour rental consists of a 50 minute skate followed by a 10 minute flood. Each rental includes 2 dressing rooms, which are made available no earlier than 30 minutes prior to the start of the booking, and must be vacated no later than 30 minutes after the end of the ice rental. All ice rental groups and referees are required to bring their own locks for the dressing room doors in order to secure their belongings. Do not leave any valuables in the dressing rooms.

The scoreboard is also included in the rental. The use of the sound system, as well as the video board and wireless microphones, can be made available for an additional fee.

All skating parties of 40 people or more will be charged an additional $50 per hour for an Arena Attendant and/or Access Control Staff to be on the ice throughout the rental. Please note that the maximum capacity on the ice surface at any time is 250 people.

All groups must submit an insurance certificate.
